Lucia B. Smith, 80, of Raymond, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Heartland of Marysville.

A loving homemaker, she was a longtime member of the former Peoria United Methodist Church and was a member of Raymond United Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Chuckery-Darby High School. She enjoyed reading and embroidery and was a great fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Her husband always cheered for the Ohio State University Buckeyes while she paid no real attention, but since his death, she became a tremendous and loyal fan of Buckeyes football and basketball.

She was proud to have celebrated her 80th birthday in October and always treasured time spent with her family.

She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in the family home in Unionville Center, to the late Henry and Nora Rausch Scheiderer. She married Frank W. Smith on June 11, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chuckery, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2004. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lois Kay; two infant great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Mikaila Noble; a sister, Margaret Scheiderer; three infant brothers; and a nephew, Ed Kasper.

Survivors include her children, Linda Paver of Raymond, Chris (Gina) Smith of Felton, Del., Sue Altschul of Columbus, and Joe Smith of Dublin; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine (Harvey) Kasper of Marysville; a sister-in-law, Lida Penhorwood of Raymond; a niece, Mary Miller of Marysville; and a nephew, Dan (Rose) Penhorwood of Raymond.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mannasmith Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Seeyong Lee officiating. Burial will take place at Raymond Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Raymond United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
