Lucille Crowder, 83, of Pleasant Hill, Ill., died at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 3, 1999, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. Funeral services for Mrs. Crowder will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. The Rev. Gary Crowder and Bro. Scott DeCamp will officiate. Burial will be at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Mrs. Crowder was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Mozier, IL, to John (Tommy) and Lillie Melvina Preston Wintjen. She was married to Chester Cleveland Crowder on Nov. 6, 1932, in Atlas, IL. He preceded her in death in 1969. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers; 2 sisters, 3 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; & a longtime friend, John McBride. Mrs. Crowder had been an employee of the former Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield for 26 years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Louisiana where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. She enjoyed studying the Bible. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home & until time of services Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Ambulance, Fire Department or American Cancer Society.
