John Robbins was the son of Nathaniel and Lucy Robbins. He was a hero of San Jacinto and several combatants told tales of his bravery during this battle. He married Eliza Crane the widow of his friend who died in that battle. After her death in 1842 he married Penelope Sandlin. He ran the ferry after his father's death and sold lots in Randolph. His death preceded his mother's.
