Plattsburg Leader, Plattsburg, Mo. 3-2-1900:
Death’s Harvest.
DIED: Sunday night, Feb. 25, 1900 Lula, the wife of Herbert F. Bland, at their country home near Grayson, of Peritonitis. The remains were buried Tuesday last in Green Lawn Cemetery, this city. Services conducted by Rev. W. C. Thompson.
Lula Ray was the daughter of Chester Ray and wife, and married H. F. Bland about ten years ago. Deceased was about 30 years of age at the time of her death and the call from the master came suddenly as the demise only made its appearance last Saturday afternoon and she was not regarded as seriously ill until Sunday afternoon when the malady developed into a malignant form and in spite of the skill of Drs. Hill and Reynolds the cruel grip of death closed its fangs around her heart and her life was crushed out. Her death is most sad on account of the fact that besides a loving mother, and devoted husband she leaves five dear little children who will miss the tender cares of mother who understands their wants and desires as none other can. The LEADER extends its sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
