Lorraine "Penny" Abram Benbow Shannon, 44, departed this life Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia. Born in Lee County on May 27, 1963, she was a daughter of Martha Jefferson and Walter Wilson.

She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1981 graduate of Mayewood High School.

She joined Ebenezer AME Church at an early age and later joined the Church of Christ in Lamar.

She was married to Stanley Shannon of Myrtle Beach.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her mother, Martha Jefferson of Sumter; her father, Walter Wilson of Washington, D.C.; stepfather, Marion (Eliza) Jefferson of Mayesville; three loving children, Yolanda Abram, Antrell Abram and Kindell (Demetrius) Cooper, and five grandchildren, all of Sumter; three sisters, Rose Mary (Randolph) Richardson of Sumter, Katie (Clarence) Wilson of Killeen, Texas, and Annie Vernell Bulter of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Maj. Marion Jefferson of El Paso, Texas, and Lazarrious Wilson of Washington; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Willie and Hattie Shannon of Sumter; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a host of special aunts, uncles, loving cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; one brother, Undrell Wilson; and one uncle.

Funeral services: Ebenezer AME Church, Mayesville, with the Rev. Dr. Jon R. Black, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Revs. Leo Chapman Jr. and Vermelle Humes.

Burial: Mayesville City Cemetery, Mayesville.
