Thelma J. Batson, 93, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died April 6, 2013, at the Marietta Center.

She was born in Long Reach, W.Va., but raised in Friendly, W.Va., to the late Charles F. and Mildred Virginia (Jones) Flesher.

She was a 1937 graduate of Sistersville High School, and retired from Corning Glass after 25 years. She was a member of Stephenson United Methodist Church and the Martha Washington Chapter 22 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Skaggs) Hawkins (Larry) of Marietta, Ohio; two grandsons, Dr. Todd Hawkins (Mindy) and Troy Hawkins (Tricia), all of Marietta; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Janelle, Nicholas, Madeline, Claire and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Batson; four brothers, George, Charles, Clarence and Ralph Flesher; and a sister, Mildred Cline.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Mona Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
