William A. Sparks came west with his family by covered wagon, the family locating in Oregon. In 1872 he came to Dayton and entered business. He was married in Waitsburg to Elmira A. McClain.
In 1890 homesteaded in Whitman county, living there for 30 years and then returned to Dayton to spend the remaining years of their life.

Eva (Sparks) Roll born 1891 died 9/14/1955
Ivy (Sparks) Bowen born 7/14/1876 died 11/21/1944
