Orginally buried in the Lay Cemetery on the banks of the Powell River in Union Co.,TN. Relocated in 1935 for the Norris Dam grave relocation project. Permission to relocate burial given by husband- Elijah G Wells.

I have been going through one of my note books, and found more info on Martha and Milton (Mitt) Petree that I had not recorded in my books. You may have found most of this, but thought I would pass it along.

Born: about 1847 Campbell County, Tn.
Died: April 17, 1911 Laurel Co. Ky.
Married: #1 about 1867 Campbell Co. Tn.
# 1: Martha Housley
Applied for divorce 1884 denied July 22, 1884 by Paul Lemaster, Campbell Co. Tn.
Military: July 15, 1863 1st. Tennessee Inf. Co. A Private.
Moved to Pigeon Roost, Clay County, Ky. about 1875
Filed and granted divorce 1895. (Don't know if it was Martha or Milton doing the filing).
Father: Isaac Petree
Mother: Martha Emeline Ford
#2 Wife: Mary Roberts. Married November 20, 1895
Born: 1846 Clay Co. Ky.
Died: July 13, 1937 Clay Co. Ky.
( Also a note saying that Milton suffered from a recurring mental illness which required hospitalization at one time). Source John Ford and his decendants, page 90.
