James was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lois; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest R. Neeper, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
He is survived by 1 brother; two daughters, Sherry (Gene) McCutchen of Kempner, TX and Beverly (Frank) Akins of Cedar Creek, TX; 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
