Mrs. J. Ben Smith passed away at her home in Fieldale this morning from a heart attack. She has been in declining health for some time. She was an active member of the Fieldale Baptist church and was one of the best known women of that community. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at the home with burial in the family lot. She is survived by two brothers, J. P. and W. G. Carter and one sister, Mrs. Caleb Haynes, Buffalo Ridge.
