A. Wayne Barnhill, a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer for 22 years.
His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Wayne had touched in some way throughout his life.
He was the beloved son of the late Dorothy Knowles and Arthur B. Barnhill.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 28 years to Patsy DiBenedetto Barnhill.
He is also fondly remembered by his dear friends who were always there for him, William "Sully" & Betty Sullivan, Gina Graves, Glenn Gussoni, Judy & Chuck Lunt, Kim Bauer, along with many others including numerous nieces, nephews, his sister Jean O'Neal, and two siblings.
Wayne was a native of Lakeland, FL, a lifelong NASCAR & Florida Gator fan and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where he enjoyed many years of fishing, friends, love and laughter.
He was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at 3218 Buffon St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, May 28th from 1:00PM – 2:00PM, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2:00PM.
Burial will be private.
