43-year-old had lived in home since March

FORT WAYNE – Authorities have identified the 43-year-old man they believe shot two teens and himself apparently after posting a note on Facebook that alerted readers to the imminent killings.

Bart Lamar Heller, whose body was found last Saturday at his house in north Fort Wayne, was identified using his fingerprints, the Allen County Coroner's Office said Friday.

The coroner's office had said it would take up to a week to positively identify Heller while awaiting information from other agencies.

Heller was from Coldwater, Mich., went to Coldwater High School and had a son, according to his Facebook page, which was removed from the social-networking site by Monday.

Heller's father owned the dilapidated, gray house at 3229 Lima Road where Heller lived. The previous homeowner, Steve Bolin, said Heller's father bought the property in March and that Heller had been living there. Bolin said Heller worked with computers.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Dec. 10, police went to the home, near the split of Lima Road and North Clinton Street, after receiving a call from a woman in Washington state who had seen his post on Facebook.

"someone call 911. three dead bodies at 3229 lima road fort wayne indiana. I've killed ryann, erin, and myself. people were warned not to (expletive) play me and ruin me. they didn't listen. sorry about your luck," read the post with a timestamp of 2:46 p.m. that day.

Officers went to the address and found Heller's body in the house, along with those of Ryann Tipton and Erin Jehl, 19-year-olds from Fort Wayne.

Authorities believe Jehl had broken up with Heller days before the shootings. She was there to retrieve her belongings when Heller fatally shot her and Tipton, a high school friend whom she had asked to come with her. Heller then shot and killed himself, authorities said.

Investigators recovered a gun at the scene but would not say what kind.

Police said Jehl did not live at the house with Heller and that their breakup could have been a motive for the slayings. Police said they contacted Facebook so Heller's page could be archived for investigative purposes.

Tipton and Jehl attended Northrop High School, where a candlelight vigil is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. today.
