Taylor enlisted in the Confederate Army in July 17, 1863. He was enrolled in Company C, 30th Texas Cavalry. The 30th Texas Cavalry served during the Red River Campaign and the battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill. Taylor remained with the unit until the close of the Civil War.

TAYLOR, FRANCIS TAYLOR 1844~1932) Francis Taylor was married to Rosetta Taylor on January 18, 1885 in Nolan County, Texas. Rosetta was born July 10, 1863."
Taylor entered the Confederate Men's Home in Austin at an unknown time, but it is known that he was a widower when he moved in. He died at the Home on July 22, 1932 in the afternoon and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery the next day.

However, in the U.S., Confederate Pensions, 1884-1958, there is a record for a "Mrs Rosetta Taylor" who filed for a Confederate Pension on 4 Aug 1932, which is two weeks after Frances Milton (Marion or James) Taylor died on 20 Jul 1932 or 22 Jul 1932. Her spouse's name is "F M Taylor" and their marriage date is 18 Jan 1885.
