LOCKBRIDGE — Louise M. Altman Hicks, 73, of Hump Mountain, Lockbridge, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea.

Born July 22, 1939, in Birch Run Township, Saginaw County, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late David B. and Ethel L. Saxon Altman.

Louise used to work as a cook at a local restaurant. She attended Thorny Point Tabernacle on Hump Mountain and loved to read, knit, garden and feed the birds.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Hicks; 1 son Mike Cole; and 2 brothers George and Jack Altman.

Survivors include 2 sons Norman, Jr., of Missouri and Scott of Michigan; 4 daughters Kathy Dafoe (Darryl) of Michigan, Lavonna Umpress (Cole) of Texas, Tereasa Harrelson of Missouri and Annette Hopkins (Frank) of Texas; 3 brothers Henry Altman (Barb), David Altman (Sandy), and Nick Altman (Debbie) all of Michigan; 1 sister Mary Wale (Larry) of Michigan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday, March 28, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle.

There will be no service as per her request.

Burial will be in the Dequasie Cemetery at Lockbridge.
