Bill Lee Montgomery, 74, long time Tulsa resident passed away April 4, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Bill was born in his grandmother's home on November 29, 1938, in Grove, OK, to Dennis Douglas Montgomery and Doris Oweta Coffee. After his mother's death in 1947, Bill was raised by his grandparents Luke and Lillie Montgomery in Vinita, OK.
Bill was a 1957 graduate of Vinita High School where he served as president of the Student Council. He obtained his BS in Business Administration from Northeastern State University in 1963. While a student at NSU he was elected vice president of his freshman class. He was a member of Phi Lambda Chi fraternity and also served in the 45th Thunderbird division of the Oklahoma Army National Guard for eight years.
Mr. Montgomery was a purchasing agent for Laser Enovations and Engineering for the past 22 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dennis and Oweta Montgomery; brother, Jack; paternal grandparents Luke and Lillie Montgomery; maternal grandparents John and Coralee Coffee of Rogers, AR; stepmother, Edith Montgomery and stepsister, Betty of TX
The family will greet friends at Hayhurst Funeral Home, 1660 S Elm Place in Broken Arrow from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, April 8, 2013 at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Internment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
