HOPE -- Nancy V. Lortz, 87, of Hope died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Silver Oak Health Campus.

Mrs. Lortz taught elementary school at St. Louis Crossing, Clifford and Hope. She was a graduate of Central Normal College in Danville.

She was a member of Flat Rock Order of the Eastern Star, St. Louis Crossing Independent Methodist Church, where she taught the women's Sunday school class, and Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority. She was a former Rainbow for Girls leader and enjoyed reading and sewing.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Bendinger officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, Hope Food Bank or St. Louis Crossing Independent Methodist Church.

Born in Bartholomew County Sept. 26, 1917, Mrs. Lortz was the daughter of Curt and Josie Jolliff Andrews. She married Lewie Lortz May 2, 1947.

Survivors include her husband; children, David C. Lortz of Hope, Joseph E. Lortz of Fortville and Jane A. Schuyler of Franklin; a brother, George Curtis Andrews of Hope; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Hennietta Kortebein.

HOPE -- The service for Nancy V. Lortz, 87, of Hope was Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Bendinger officiating. Organist was Marilyn Lazzell. Burial was at Flat Rock Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shane, Curt and Andy Lortz, J.D. and Ben Schuyler and Jeff Britton.

Mrs. Lortz died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
