Arthur Abramson a retired sales agent from New York Life Insurance Company and Past National President of NAIFA peacefully passed away at his Metairie home at the age of 91 on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Beloved husband of the late Sherle Selle "Toni" Abramson. Son of August David Abramson and Elizabeth Burke Abramson; father of David Abramson and his wife Clara, Gregory S. Abramson, and the late Mark Abramson; brother of the late David Abramson, Robert Abramson, A.D. Abramson, and Mary Lynn Abramson; grandfater of Paul Gaffney Abramson and great-grandfather of Patrick David and Caitlyn Isabella Abramson.
Arthur attended L.S.U. and graduated from Loyola Univeristy. He was a Naval Avaiator in W.W. II flying the F6F Hellcat in the Pacific theater. He served on the board of directors of the local and state NAIFA-National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (formerly The Life Underwriters Assoc.) and served as the National President 1987-1988. NAIFA-LA honored Arthur by naming their prestigious award after him.
He was a parishoner of St. Basil Antiochian Orthodox Church in Metairie.
Relatives and friends of the family are welcome to attend a funeral service in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 12:00 pm.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, April 4, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. and on Friday,morning from 10:00 am until service time.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
