Samuel Hamilton Bayard or Baird was the son of Alvirus Moses Baird 1759 and Mary Cochran.
Samuel was a private in Captain Noyes Company of Massachusetts Vols. during the War of 1812. There is a pension file for his wife Mary. He enlisted on Feb 14, 1814, and was discharged Oct 17, 1814. He was injured by a cannon recoil causing the carriage to hit him in the leg. He was discharged due to this injury.
He married Mary S Jennings on Oct 15, 1823 at New Lebanon, Columbia, New York. He lived in Becket, Berkshire, Massachusetts from 1821-1829.
By 1841 the couple had moved to Granby, Oswego, New York. In 1862 the couple moved to the Mount Pleasant, Wabasha, Minnesota area to be closer to some of their children.
The couple had children: Henry Lepenwell 1824, Mary Laurinda (Harrison) Gillett 1826, Charles 1835, James 1843, possibly Hannah (John) Wood (also married Rufus Cook).
