DAVENPORT -- Waneta Dykes, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at St. Katherine's Living Center, Davenport. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. She was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Mercer, Mo., to Alto and Grace Waldron Dykes. She was a member of Riverview Freewill Baptist Church, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a son, Trilby Lee Whan, Quincy, Ill.; grandsons, Ted and Merl, both of Quincy; a great-granddaughter, Kelly, Quincy; and brothers, LeRoy Dykes, Erick, Okla., Charles Dykes Shrum, Blytheville, Ark., and DeWayne Dykes, Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson, Timothy Whan.
