Arthur Edward Richardson was born Garstang, Lancashire, England. He enlisted in the AIF on 19/3/1916 aged 37 years 8 months and embarked at Fremantle for active service abroad on 18/9/1916 per HMAT "Clan MacGillivray" (A46). He was wounded in action in France on 6/5/1917. He was discharged from the AIF in England on 15/7/1918 being medically unfit and in consequence of taking up employment as an Australian Munition Worker.
