Mrs. Clare Platt Arnold, widow of Supreme Court Justice John C. Arnold and mother of Clearfield Attorney Dan P. Arnold, died in the Clearfield Hospital at 11 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 26. She was 92.

Mrs. Arnold was active in Trinity Methodist Church in Clearfield, now, Trinity United Methodist Church, from 1918 until the past few years. She was an active Sunday School teacher, originally instructing younger children and later the Women's Bible Class. Other church activities include membership in the Martha Circle and Loyally Class.

A charter member of Clear Chapter No. 379 Order of the Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron in 1926 and 1927 and remained in the organization's affairs as long as she was physically able. She helped to organize and direct the sewing program of the Clearfield American Red Cross chapter during World War II.

Mrs. Arnold was born in Sligo in Jefferson County, Feb. 2, 1886, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Daniel A. Piatt. She was married to John C. Arnold of DuBois, Sept. 17, 1913 in a ceremony conducted by her father. The Arnolds moved to Clearfield in 1918.

She is survived by 3 children: Mrs. Jane Arnold Mann, Norristown; Mrs. Mary Arnold Brandis, Champagne, Ill.; and Attorney Arnold. In addition, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren survive.

There will be no visitation and the funeral, in charge of the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., will be private. Interment will follow at Oah Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in the contributor's favorite charity.
