Alvin E. Pfingsten, 31, was killed about 5:45 Sunday evening when his motorcycle and a car collided at a gravel road intersection four miles east and one south of Fairbury.
Seriously injured was Lyle Pfingsten, four, who was riding on the motorcycle in front of his father. He was taken to a Lincoln Hospital later Sunday evening.
The Pfingsten's were traveling west while Carol Barber Swanson of Lincoln, driving a car belonging to her mother, Mrs. Gladys Powell of Lincoln, was going North on the "Endicott-Jansen" road. In the car with Mrs. Swanson were Roberta Dragoo, Gary Schoenrock, and Jerold Priefert, all of Fairbury.
The Pfingsten boy was thrown from the impact point, about 100 feet to the north and west and landed in a grader ditch, according to Sheriff Frank Knocke, who investigated the accident. Mr. Pfingsten was thrown through the car windshield into the front seat of the car.
The motorcycle went north and east into the grader ditch.
Pfingsten was a brakeman on the Rock Island Railroad. He and his wife, the former Judith Shinn, resided at 718 C St. The couple has two children, Cindy and Lyle.
In addition to his wife and two children, Mr. Pfingsten is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pfingsten, Sr. two brothers, Delbert and George, Jr., all of Fairbury.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday afternoon in the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor M. Matuschka, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Traum service.

Alvin Everett Pfingsten, son of George H. and Leona Pfingsten, was born Oct. 31, 1933 at Alexandria, NE and was killed July 4, 1965, when the motorcycle he was riding was in a collision with a car. He had reached the age of 31 years, 8 months and three days.
He attended Fairbury High School and graduated with the class of 1952. In 1957 he started working for the Rock Island Railroad and was employed as a brakeman.
On Oct. 30, 1958, he married Judith Shinn and to them two children were born.
Surviving are his wife, Judith; daughter, Cindy, age 6; son, Lyle, age 4; parents George, all of Fairbury; grandparents and other relatives.
Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon in the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. M. Matuschka, officiating. Mrs. George Hammer was organist and Mrs. M. Matuschka soloist. Pallbearers were Norman Stewart, Wayne Stewart, Darrell Jurgena, Harvey Jurgena, Bill Stone, and Leslie Ward. Burial was in the Fairbury Cemetery.
