Winnifred J. "Winnie" Buchanan, 83, of Westville died at 2:21 p.m. Monday (July 5, 2004) at home, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Mrs. Buchanan was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Danville, a daughter of George W. and Hazel E. Roberts Chandler. She married Harold G. Buchanan on April 4, 1937, in Paris. He died Oct. 21, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Thomas D. Buchanan of Westville; a daughter, Janet K. Wright of Las Cruces, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and four brothers.
Mrs. Buchanan worked for Danville School District 118 in food service for 10 years, until her retirement in 1981. She was also a homemaker.
She enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking.
