April 21, 1911
Mrs. Sarah Burnidge died at her home seven miles northwest of Stillwater at 7 p. m.. friday, April 14, 1911, aged 51 years, and 6 months. The funeral was held at the family residence at 11 a. m., Sunday, conducted by Rev. D.J.M. Wood, who preached from the text, "And We Fly Away," Ps. xc 10., after which the body was followed to it's last resting place in Fairlawn cemetery, Stillwater, where it was met by a large delegation who deposited in sisterly
love an evergreen bough on her casket. Beautiful flowers were also evidences of love from several orders and friends.
The decedent was born in Kankakee county, Illinois, Oct 18, 1860.
She leaves, besides her husband, two daughters by a former
marriage, Mrs Maud Swatzell, of Lincoln county, and Mrs. Grace Meeks of Stillwater. She was a bright and lovable woman, a member of the Methodist church, living a consistent Christain life and loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Burnidge's death was due to cancer of the stomach. She had submitted to an operation, and was a great sufferer to the time of her death.
