Edwin Havilah Rothrock was the eighth of nine known children of Joel Rothrock (1808-1879) and Susanna (went by Susan) Clodfelter Rothrock (1814-1891), who married on 25 Mar 1834 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Edwin was first married to Mary Ida Williams Paschal (1855-1885) in c1876 at presumably Illinois, though a marriage record can't be located. Was Williams her maiden name and was she first married to a Mr. Paschal?

Edwin and Mary were the parents of five known children, namely:

3. Percy Wardell Rothrock (1880-1896)
4. Harvie Austin Rothrock (1883-1883)
5. James Gilbert Rothrock (1885-1957)

After Mary died, Edwin remarried to Minnie Leota Stephens (1865-1920) on 30 Mar 1886 at Albion, Edwards County, Illinois. Edwin and Minnie were the parents of eight known children, namely:

8. Levitt Joel Rothrock (1890-1949)
9. Lena Rothrock (???-young)
10. Hale Hershall Rothrock (1893-1967)

13. Bessie Roena Rothrock (1902-1961)

Some records list the daughter Jersie (Jersey?) May Rothrock with dates (1885-young) and a daughter of Mary, not Minnie. Edwin's obituary states he had fourteen children, thus there may be one missing.

After Edwin died (or after they divorced?), Minnie remarried to a Mr. McAlexander and was widowed by 1920.

Obituary: Edwin Havillah Rothrock who died here near Richfield, March 12, was born at West Salem, Illinois, Feb. 14, 1853. He was the father of 14 children. The mother and several children were laid to rest several years ago. Four sons and three daughters survive him: one son at Ashland, Ohio; one at Thermopolis, Wyo., two sons and two daughters at San Bernardino, CA and one daughter here in Richfield. Mr. Rothrock was in poor health when he came here early in the winter and never made any permanent gain in condition by the change.
