Mrs. Perkins was the daughter of the late United States Senator William M. Evarts and Helen Minerva Wardner Evarts, and the wife of Edward Clifford Perkins. Their four sons, Edward N., Maxwell E., Charles C., Louis A. and two daughters, Mrs. T. H. Thomas and Mrs. Archibald Cox were in Windsor for the funeral at St. Paul's Church.

Her obituary, below, was printed in the October 24, 1940 issue of the Vermont Journal.

"Services for Mrs. Edward C. Perkins, who died at her home here (Windsor) Saturday, was held Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 at Sp. Paul's Episcopal Church, of which she had been a life long member, Rev. Harry Jones officiating.

Six of Mrs. Perkins' grandchildren, Charles Perkins, Jr., of Bryn Mawr, PA, Archibald Cox of Boston, MA, Robert Cox of New York City, Maxwell Cox of New York City, Edward Thomas and Orson Thomas of Cambridge, MA were the bearers.

Mrs. Perkins' four sons, Edward N. of New York City, Maxwell E. of New Canaan, CT, Charles C. of Bryn Mawr, PA, and Louis A. of New York city, and her two daughters, Mrs. T. H. Thomas of Cambridge, MA and Mrs. Archibald Cox of New York city; 18 grandchildren, and more than 50 other close relatives were in Windsor for the services Tuesday.

Mrs. Perkins was born in New York City January 4, 1858, the daughter of the late United States Senator William M. Evarts, and Helen Minerva (Wardner) Evarts. She spent nearly every summer at her home in Windsor and for the past four years had remained her during the entire year.

Mrs. Perkins was a much beloved woman for her gracious manner and dignified charm and will long be remembered by all who knew her."
