Dr. Slatin was born in Chicago, son of Abraham and Esther Slatin. He was an ophthalmologist in Decatur since 1945. He did his undergraduate work and was graduated with his medical degree from Loyola University School of Medicine in Chicago. He was a member of numerous professional and civic organizations and member of Temple B'Nai Abraham. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. He married Josephine Barnato in 1943.
Surviving are his wife; son; brother, William of Montverde, Fla.; sisters, Dorothy Ross of Skokie; Sally Morris of Chicago; two grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death..
