Daniel Hardin Sr. was a soldier who died in 1826 and is buried in the Hardin-Basham cemetery north of Lodiburg. He was a nephew of William Hardin Sr. (Indian Bill) with whom he and his sister Mary made their home. Daniel married Aug. 19, 1790, Alice Jolly, born 1767, died 1870. She was the daughter of Nelson Jolly Sr. and Mary Graham.

Daniel served from Sept. 1780 to Jan. 1781 in Capt. Samuel Kennedy's Co., 7th. Pa. Cont. Line.
His children were: Mahala (Bandy), Joel, Thursia (Basham), Marenda (Rawlings), Cassandra (Basham), Daniel Jr., Hadassah (Baysinger) and Mary Ann (Polly)(Haynes).
