-. Helen Pettibone, 86, of Belen, N.M., and formerly of Battle Creek, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, in the Sunrise Health Care Center.

She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in . Royalton, Minn., to Charles and Agnes (Waverek) Borash. She moved from Battle Creek to Washington in 1962 and to New Mexico in 1989 from California.

She was employed as a registered nurse at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her nursing career also included industrial nursing in Battle Creek, emergency room nursing in Ephrata, Wash., and private nursing duty in Southern California.

She married Richard J. Pettibone on Feb. 3, 1940, in Battle Creek. He died May 11, 1998.

Surviving are a son, Charles Pettibone of Granada Hills, Calif.; daughters, Carol Kivin of Belen, N.M., Jean Campbell of Ocean Shores, Australia, and Mary Bracken of Redmond, Wash; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Trobec of St Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
