Phyllis Gayle Soroka,83, died on Holy Saturday, March 30, from complications of Alzheimer's at the Carlisle Care Center. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street with burial to follow at Glendale cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at the church with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Phyllis was born on June 21, 1929 to Andrew and Elda Morlan in Brazil, IN. She moved to Des Moines in 1939 as a child and graduated from North High School. She married Alexander N. Soroka in 1948 and she was a homemaker most of her life. She worked at Target and Richman Gordman until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Andy Soroka of Dexter; daughter, Roxian (Dan) Miller of Des Moines; son, Rick Soroka of Dexter; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; sister, Mildred (Stan) Betters; brother, Dick Morlan and her parents.
