"Miss Genevieve Hampton, aged 17, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Hampton, of Renfrew, Butler county, died Friday morning in the Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, where she went two weeks ago for treatment. The body was brought to the home of her mother in Renfrew last night.
The deceased was born in Renfrew, and was popular and much loved by the people of the community, both young and old. She had been employed in the Butler station of the Short Line for some time previous to her last illness. She is survived by her mother, two brothers, James and Edward, and two sisters, Edna and Patsy."
In Transit, Vol. 26:
"Miss Genevieve Hampton, who was our night agent at Butler, died at the Mercy Hospital at Pittsburgh and was buried at Brownsville (sic) beside her father, Bro. Joseph Hampton, a former member of 223. The absence of the good cheer that was always extended to us by Genevieve and her sweet, kindly ways will perpetuate her in our memory. None could have departed from our midst and caused greater and more genuine sorrow and our sincere sympathy goes out to the bereaved mother and family."
