Jane Kingston Black of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening in her home after a long illness at the age of 88.

Jane was born November 28, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, to Edith and Captain Carl Kingston, DFD. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then University of North Texas, where she was one of only three females nationwide to be accepted into the U. S. government's Civilian Pilot Training Program.

During World War II, she was Final Assembly Inspector for North American Aviation in Texas and later for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation in San Diego.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Black, Jr. He was the love of her life. They enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, and traveling to Aspen, La Jolla, Palm Springs, Hawaii, and their ranch in Granbury, Texas. Jane was an excellent skier and won many trophies from her races in Aspen.

Jane is survived by her son Robert Carlton Black, his wife Mary, and their children Alex Black, Jacquelyn Black, Christy and Travis Ewert; her stepson John R. Black, III and his wife, Beverly; sister-in-law, Peggy Black Braecklein; nieces, nephew, and their families.

Jane was a member of Brook Hollow Country Club, Dallas Petroleum Club, Crystal Charity Ball, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arboretum, Park Cities Presbyterian Church, Dallas Historical Society, Les Femmes, Nasher Sculpture Center, Star Hollow Golf Club, Northwood Institute, and Dallas Ski Club.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Winnie Carson for her many years of caring for Jane. The family also wishes to thank caregivers Priscilla, Rose, Mary, Grace and Betty from Reach Out Health Care for the help and compassion they provided Jane during the last two years of her life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9 from 6-8 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 4 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Reunion Church of Dallas, SPCA of Texas, or the charity of your choice.
