Stan, as he liked to be called, was a popular character, often to be seen thundering along the local Narborough Road on his mobility scooter. He spent some years in the army in his youth, visiting places such as Nicosia and Bengazi. His final job was working with the Marconi company, where he had to retire aged 59 due to ill health. Stan was a life-long Liverpool FC fan, and loved nothing more than watching them play live on TV. He passed away in the Leicester Royal Infirmary from natural causes, aged 79.
