Rhoda Barber was born on April 3, 1799, in Litchfield, Connecticut, her father, Timothy, was 21, and her mother, Rhoda, was 21. She married Francis Stone Lindley on October 30, 1828, in Switzerland, Indiana. They had one child Francis B Lindley during their marriage. She died as a young mother on December 6, 1830 shortly after her son Francis was born, in Vevay, Indiana, at the age of 31, and was buried there.
