Christian Armbruster, 81, resident of Edwardsville for the past 64 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.W. Jarrett, 1009 North Main street at 3:45 p.m., Thursday. He had been ill for three weeks and pneumonia developed several days before his death.
The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Marks Weber Funeral Home with Rev. H.J. Bredehoeft, pastor of the Eden Evangelical Church in charge. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The body will be at Marks Weber Funeral Home prior to the services.
Mr. Armbruster was born April 5, 1855, in Westphalia, Germany. He came to America when 18 years of age and settled in Edwardsville. On Aug. 8, 1889 he was married to Miss Louise Wehling at the Hamel Evangelical Church. Mr. Armbruster was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for 50 years and he attended the Eden Evangelical Church here. Before coming to the United States he was confirmed in the Evangelical Church.
Mr. Armbruster was preceded in death by one son, Nelson, several brothers and one sister. The surviving children are Mrs. Eleanor Jarrett and Miss Delphine Armbruster of Edwardsville. There are also four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Walter and Harold Theuer, Frank Wood, Fred Michel, John Wentz and Emil Wolf.
