Benjamin is the ninth of ten children of Andrew Leep and the first of two sons of his second marriage, to Catherine Otto.

Animal diseases, coldness, dust bowls, drought, several successive crop failures and low grain prices caused Anthony's parents to leave with their children Canada and in 1921 the family moved to Shepherd, Yellowstone County, Montana, where they stayed for about six years, still being engaged in farming there. In this period their sons Benjamin and Anthony were born in 1924 and 1927. From Sheperd, Montana the family moved to the river city Quincy, seat of Adams County, in the utter western part of Illinois, where they were developing the fertile Mississippi bottoms for garden tracts.

So in 1930 Benjamin (5 y, born in Montana), his father Andrew Leep (54 y), his mother Katherine (44 y), his stepbrothers Edward Leep (22 y, born in Chicago), Nicholas Scheffleer (19 y, Holland), his stepsister Mary Leep (16 y, Canada) and his brother Anthony J (2 y, born in Montana) lived in Melrose, just southeast of Quincy, Adams County, Illinois.

This seemed a good opportunity for his father to resume the old vocation, gardening, but was also doomed to failure. Here it was a case of too much rain. The Mississippi river threatened to overflow her borders, finally breaking the levee, inundating thousands of acres so suddenly that the people had to be rescued by boats. So that project had to be abandoned too. The family Leep then moved to Martin, Allegan County, in the western part of Michigan, where his father did some gardening,

In April 1940 Benjamin (15 y), his father Andrew K. Leep (65 y, carpenter in the rough building industry), his mother Mary Catherine (55 y) and his brother Anthony (12 y resided at a rented home in Martin, Allegan County, Michigan. In 1935 they lived at the same place.

Finally they moved to Grand Rapids, where his father found employment in a greenhouse. His mother Katherine passed away in March 1950 at the age of 64 years at her home at 1313 Kalamazoo Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Benjamin lived then in San Francisco, California.

Benjamin married on 28 November 1946 to Sally J Citta, born on 6 September 1924 in New York, whose mother is named Antonetta Citta.

Sally died in 1997 at the age of 72 years, very probably in Redding, Shasta County, California, where Benjamin died too in 1999 at the age of 75 years.

REDDING -- Benjamin Leep, 75, of Redding died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Patients Hospital of Redding.
Born April 14, 1924, in Billings, Mont., he moved to Shasta County in 1957 from San Francisco.
He was an attorney practicing at Leep & Tescher of Redding, a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran and member of the California Bar Association.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Schuppert of Redding and Karen Leep Reilly of Tahoe City; brother Tony of Michigan; sister Mary Schmidt of Montana; and three grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel of Redding.

FAG volunteer Bangsund heard in October 2013 at the office of -the catholic- Saint Joseph Cemetery in Redding, Shasta County, California, where his wife Sally was buried in 1997, that there was no record of Benjamin Leep.
