Dallas married Marian Elaine McDaniel in Houston, TX on Feb. 22, 1936.
Born the son of Forrest Malden Westmoreland, Sr. and Ela Idell Sherrill Westmoreland.
Dallas Chapman Westmoreland, Sr., husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend , is celebrating his 90th birthday in heaven. He was born in Cale Community, Nevada County, Arkansas on November 6, 1914, and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2004. Dallas was the fifth of eleven children and the father of six children. He was preceded in death by his son Bert Lyndon and daughter, Sharon Lynell McCarty. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian Elaine Westmoreland and their children: son, Dallas Chapman Westmoreland, Jr. and wife Beverly; son-in-law, Larry McCarty; daughter Ela Hughes and husband, Bill; daughter, Joan Townsend; and daughter, Jean Wendell and husband, Jay; nine grandchildren: Colleen Westmoreland, Kim Kirtley, Dana Morales, David McCarty, Patti Hughes, Burt Hughes, Robert Wayne Townsend III and Landon, Saylor and Chapman Wendell; two great-great grandchildren: Jackson Corbin and Cheri Lynn Hockla; and his cat Mercy. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother. Our special thanks to our friends and caregivers, Denise Nichols and Evelyn Bedu. Dallas moved to Houston in 1928. He was the owner of Westmoreland Body Shop and retired from Houston Oilfiend Material Company (HOMCO) after 43 years of service. Dal loved walking through the woods at sunrise and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an accomplished gardener and family, friends and neighbors enjoyed the vegetables and fruits of his labor. He was a 52 year resident of the Heights. Pallbearers are grandsons: Burt Hughes, David McCarty, Jay Wendell, Josh Wendell, Robert Townsend and great-grandson Sammy Whitcher. Visitation with the family from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, November 6, 2004. Graveside services Sunday, November 7, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park. Dr. Daniel T.
