Voices (Woodbury, CT) - January 22, 2008. Deceased Name: BETHLEHEM - George Francis Hollenweger. BETHLEHEM - George Francis Hollenweger, Jr., 74, of Bethlehem, formerly of Southbury and Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., died Thursday, January 10, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Dorcas Hollenweger. Mr. Hollenweger was born April 8, 1933, in New Rochelle, N.Y., son of the late George F., Sr., and Gladys (Jones) Hollenweger. Raised in New Rochelle, he attended New Rochelle High School before serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a roofing contractor for 30 years in the Metropolitan New York area until 1986 and was then employed by the Southbury Training School as a stationary engineer. An airplane enthusiast, Mr. Hollenweger obtained his pilot's license at age 60. He was a life member of VFW Post 1607 in Southbury as well as the Rotary Club of the Bronx. He was a member of South Britain Congregational Church, where he served on the Property Committee.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Michael G. Hollenweger and his wife, Linda; his daughter, Patricia A. DeJoseph and her husband, Robert; two sisters, Gladys Kothe and Mildred Emrick-Meyers, and five grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Corinne, Erick, Alex and Nikki.

He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Vance. Funeral services took place January 14 at South Britain Congregational Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere. Memorial contributions may be made to South Britain Congregational Church, P.O.
