Sarah Bartlett was the elder sister of Amine Bartlett [also buried in Wisner Cemetery, and who placed the stone marked "Sister"] - daughters of Alfred Bartlett and Eliza Eva Hammer.

A best wager is that Alfred died young and his widow married Harvey Sumner in Oakland County, MI in 1857. The 1860 census shows Sarah and Amine living in Rose, MI, in the household of Harvey and Eliza Sumner. In the 1870 census, Sarah - age 17 - appears to be a domestic servant living in Pontiac. The 1900 census implies she remained there at least 30 years, as a servant.
