Ivan J. Patterson, 62, Nampa, died Tuesday at a Nampa hospital. He was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Spanish Fork, Utah, and moved to Carey with his family as a child. He graduated from Carey High School and married Helen Bell in Rupert in 1935. They were later divorced. He served as sheriff of San Bernardino County, Calif. for five years, and then worked for Pacific Fruit Express. He was transferred to Nampa in 1951 and married Bernice Lundquist June 9, 1954, in Murphy. He was active in the Democratic party and was a precinct committeeman. He was a board member of the Ida-Div-Ry Federal Union, chairman and executive board member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America and Canada, and state worthy president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in California. He was a member of the LDS Church Fourth Ward.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Vadah Robertson of Monterey, Calif., a son, Steven Patterson of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a stepson, Shane Lundquist of Umatilla, Ore.; five brothers, Fred of Springfield, Mo., Grant of Halley, Reed of Sacramento, Calif., Richard of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Robert Patterson of Ontario; three sisters, Ella Hilverda of Twin Falls, Rhea Knorp of Gannet, and Betty Hunt of Carey; and seven grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
