Karen Ruth Bangert, 65, of Gillespie, IL, passed away at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL, at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013. She was born December 24, 1947, in Litchfield, IL, to Edmond L. Bangert and Dorothea Ruth (Loescher) Bangert.
She was a Retired Program Assistant for the Illinois State Board of Education.
Karen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Gillespie and Bunker Hill Chapters, and was an avid bowler. She was a graduate of Gillespie High School Class of 1966.
She is survived by her sister, 2 nephews, 2 nieces,and several cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Olive, IL, with Rev. Nancy Ribes officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
