Mr. Deckard moved to Wood County from Gallia County and lived here for 50 years. He was a builder of stone roads in Wood County. In earlier years, he supervised the laying of many sidewalks in the city of Bowling Green. He continued his hard work even after his health began to decline. he was known as a kind husband and father.

He moved to Columbus recently and had built a home there, but after his son Manley, died he returned to road construction work in Wood County. he is survived by his wife, one son, Howard in Columbus and one daughter, Mrs. Minta Brown of Columbus.
