She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Clifton Brown and Blanche Phifer Jenkins, wife of the late Hal Dixon, longtime resident of Lowell, lifelong member of Lowell-Smyre United Methodist Church, member of the Lowell Women's Club, Lowell Garden Club, Gaston Extension Homemakers Club, Lowell Trotters, member of the blind and visually impaired and senior citizens clubs, received the Gastonia Jaycees Distinguished Service Award in 1997 for outstanding senior citizen and exemplary public service to the community.
