He was preceded in death by his wife, Ottilie "Lucy" Barner; parents; and two brothers, Otho and John "Bud" Barner.
Jesse is survived by one sister, Hazel Barner; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was a member of College Street Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Jesse retired from the U.S. Army after serving 31 plus years. After retiring, he lived in Salinas, CA, with his wife, Lucy. There he managed the Mission Apartments for almost 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling. Jesse and Lucy moved to Springfield in 2001.
