Violet was the youngest female British and Commonwealth service casualty of WW2.She served with the Auxiliary Territorial Service-Attached 490(M) Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery~ Royal Artillery~Service No:W/86125.She was only 16 and the daughter of Alexander and Edith Mary Akehurst (nee MacDonald) of Battle.
The youngest British and Commonwealth service casualty was Boy Reginald Hamilton Earnshaw who also died in 1941.
