ABANDON FOR SEARCH OF BODY OF PILOT FROM HOLTWOOD

The search for the body of Lieutenant Chester L. Cook Jr., who was killed in the crash of an Army dive bomber at Myrtle Beach, S.C. on June 5, has been abandoned, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester L. Cook, of Holtwood.

Letters from Lieutenant Cook's commanding officers, to Mr. and Mrs. Cook, praised the local pilot's skill and devotion to duty, and stated that because of treacherous tides the search for his body had been abandoned.

All six members of the bomber's crew lost their lives in the crash, and only two of the bodies have been recovered, the letters stated. The local flier was the co-pilot of the bomber.
