Born October 6, 1923 in Pekin to Clarence and Luella (Rickgauer) Bolson, he married Pauline Herren Needham on June 12, 1971 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2011 in Pekin.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; one son Eugene and one brother.
Surviving are three sons, Keith Needham, Larry (Barb) Needham and Jeff (Dollie) Bolson; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Geraldine Thomas and Alice (Marlowe) Caulkins.
Marvin had worked for Commonwealth Edison, Powerton Station in maintenance, retiring after 36 years of service. He had served in the United States Army during the WWII era in the European Theater. Marvin had been a member of the Izaak Walton League of America Chapter 85 in Havana and a life member of the Roy L. King VFW Post 1232 in Pekin. An avid fisherman, Marvin also loved playing BINGO, cards, camping and spending time with his family.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Chaplain Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military honors will be conducted by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and the Military Funeral Honors Team.
