She lived on a farm near Eunice and attended elementary school. She graduated in 1927 from Houston High School and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1955 from Southwest Missouri State University.
She married George E. Harmon Sept. 28, 1929. They had one daughter and lived in Houston, where her husband worked for Brown Chevrolet Motor Co. until his death in 1963.
Mrs. Harmon was a school teacher for 35 years. A number of those were spent in rural schools in Texas County. For the last 12 years of her career, she taught at Houston R-1, retiring in 1972.
She married Homer Bennett June 12, 1975. They continued to live in Houston until his death Sept. 27, 1993.
Mrs. Bennett loved to quilt and was a volunteer at the Houston Senior Center quilting room. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Houston for more than 60 years.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and a stepdaughter.
Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie McElroy of Houston; two stepsons, Dale Bennett of Houston and Homer Lee Bennett of Willow Springs; a stepdaughter, Kay Miller of Houston; two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and a number of step-grand- and great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 o'clock Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Houston with the Rev. Benny Gard and the Rev. Harold Bruening officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
Visitation is 6 to 8 o'clock Friday evening at the Evans chapel.
