Larry G. Kiger, 65, of Mt. Morris, died at 5:42 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.


He was born Saturday, March 13, 1948, in Kirby, a son of the late Charles E. Kiger and Texa C. Myers Kiger.


Mr. Kiger had lived in Greene County all of his life.


He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he received two Purple Hearts.


Mr. Kiger was also a former member of Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Department and had served as assistant chief for many years.


He loved spending time with his four grandsons and family.


His wife, Patricia Fumich Kiger, whom he married August 22, 1970, survives.


Also surviving are two daughters, Stefanie and Jay Morris of Waynesburg and Leslie and Ben Parker of Fairmont, W.Va.; four grandsons, Isaac and Luke Morris and Jaxon and Spencer Parker; three sisters, Sharon S. and Bill Bennett, Darlene K. and Gary Wade and Marsha A. and David McIntire, all of Mt. Morris; a brother, Allen N. and Doris Kiger of Madison, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.


Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mt. Morris, PA 15349. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Monday, March 25, in Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Graveside military rites will be accorded by James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992. Information is online at www.milliken-throckmortonfh.com.
