Chuck is the son of Aldis Carnes and Gladys Arick Carnes. He enlisted in the Army on 4-23-1943 for WWII. After the war he worked as a mechanic at a service station. He was the brother of Mona I. (Carnes) Stripe, Ollie (Carnes) Tellia, and Doris (Linn) Hobin-Massie. The 1940 census shows him in the home of his mother and step-father, Jacob Leinn (Linn), in Creston, Ohio with his sister Ollie, also in the household. He died at the age of 22 from carbon monoxide poisioning after falling asleep in his running vehicle during a snowstorm. Burial was 3-7-1947 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, Ohio.
